PCARD is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established under license number NA- 7220-A which has been issued by the Palestinian Ministry of Interior on 2009.
PCARD is a grassroots organization with responsibilities originating from the Agriculture Law (2003), Article number 1. PCARD is an organization which, while being restricted to general monitoring, evaluation and learning, remains independent financially and managerially.
PCARD is supported by democratically elected agricultural experts who are dedicated to agriculture development as they are specialized in the following aspects:
– Olive and olive oil production, olive mill technology, olive oil packaging and storing.
– Nutrition and food processing.
– Irrigation technologies.
– Animal and plant production and its related food processing.
– Protective cultivations and agricultural nurseries.
– Plant protection and,
– Animal-human shared diseases.
– Urban agriculture and planning.
PCARD Goals:
– To contribute in developing and upgrading the Palestinian agriculture sector according to frame of the sustainable agriculture.
– To conduct selective agricultural research and studies (animal and plant).
– To work towards alleviating farmers’ social and economical status and increasing farmers’ incomes through silks upgrading and extension provision.
– To help in implementing emergency and developmental agricultural projects.
– To contribute and coordinate with official and non-official institutions in order to avoid overlapping and to harmonize both the efforts and responsibilities.
– To link with national and international stakeholders and NGO’s in line with PCARD objectives, vision and mission.
– To help in technology transfer among local and foreign research centers and institutions.
– To help in organizing and conducting advanced training courses for extension agents and new graduates.
– To enhance women participation in agriculture under gender mainstreaming approaches.
– To participate in issuing leaflets and extension booklets related to hot agriculture topics and practices.
